Resume subscription campaign

Motivate paused subscribers to resume with personalized discounts and one-click reactivation.

Updated yesterday

The Resume subscription campaign helps you re-engage subscribers who have paused their subscription by offering a time-bound incentive to resume. Paused subscribers are often high-intent customers who stalled for a specific reason, and a personalized nudge with a discount or free gift is usually enough to bring them back. This article covers why to use it, how it works, how to set it up, the subscriber experience, and how to track performance.

Why use resume subscription campaigns

Resume subscription campaigns help you recover revenue from subscribers who are paused but have not fully churned. Instead of waiting for them to return on their own, you give each paused subscriber a direct, one-click path back into their active subscription.

Key benefits:

  • Recover paused subscribers: Bring back subscribers who have paused but not cancelled their subscription.

  • Reduce friction: Subscribers can resume through a one-click confirmation flow without editing their subscription manually.

  • Increase LTV: Nudge paused subscribers to resume and boost their lifetime value.

  • Flexible outreach: Share resume actions through a CSV quick action list or sync them directly to Klaviyo.

When to use this campaign

This campaign works best in the following situations:

  • Subscribers have been paused for an extended period and show no sign of resuming on their own.

  • You want to re-engage subscribers who paused after a seasonal break.

  • You are running an end-of-month or quarter revenue push and want to activate paused accounts.

How resume subscription works

When a subscriber clicks a resume subscription campaign link, they are redirected to their order subscription page in customer portal and see a Resume subscription button. Once they click it and confirm, their subscription resumes immediately and any configured incentive is applied automatically.

How to create a resume subscription campaign

Navigate to Loop admin > Campaigns > Create campaign, then select Resume subscription. Add an internal name so you can identify the campaign later.

Select audience

Choose which paused subscriptions should receive the resume offer:

  • All paused subscriptions: The campaign applies to every paused subscription in your account.

  • Specific paused subscriptions: Filter by conditions such as product, frequency, or tags, or add specific subscription IDs to target a subset.

Select incentive

Choose the incentive that subscribers will receive when they resume:

  • Add a free gift.

  • Add a discount.

  • None.

If an incentive is configured, it is applied automatically once the subscriber resumes their subscription.

Choose how to share campaign actions

You can distribute resume actions to paused subscribers in two ways:

  • Generate manual quick action list: A CSV file is generated containing personalized resume URLs for each subscriber. You can use this list to trigger campaigns through any third-party marketing tool.

  • Sync campaign action list to Klaviyo: Resume links are synced directly to Klaviyo, so you can trigger flows without exporting a CSV.

Customize texts

Configure the text shown to subscribers in the resume confirmation modal. Clear communication reduces friction and improves the acceptance rate.

Set timeline

Set the campaign start and end date and time. By default, campaign duration is one month, calculated as the difference between the start and end date.

Once the campaign expires, resume links will no longer work and subscribers cannot complete the action.

Notify completion alert (optional)

Enter an email address to receive alerts when subscribers complete the resume action. This helps your team monitor reactivations in real time.

Customer experience

Subscribers who receive the campaign link through email, SMS, or any marketing tool land on their order subscription page inside customer portal. They see a Resume subscription button on that page.

When a subscriber clicks the button:

  • A confirmation modal opens asking them to confirm the resume action.

  • The subscriber clicks resume to confirm.

  • The subscription resumes immediately.

Once the resume is completed, any configured incentive is applied to the subscription and the campaign disappears for that subscriber.

Performance tracking

Track campaign results by navigating to Loop admin > Campaigns. You can review the following metrics for each resume subscription campaign:

  • Audience: Number of paused subscribers targeted by the campaign.

  • Clicks: Number of subscribers who interacted with the campaign.

  • Completion rate: Percentage of subscribers who successfully resumed.

Use these insights to refine your targeting, messaging, and incentives over time.
