Decision Guide: Which Offer Type Do You Need?
Loop provides three specialised post-purchase offer types. Every offer slot in a flow (Primary offer, On accept, and On decline) can independently use any of these three templates.
Use this decision flow to pick the right offer type:
Offer Type | Target Customer at Checkout | What Happens When Accepted | Best Used For |
1. Upgrade to Subscription | One-time buyer of the targeted product(s) | Converts their one-time purchase into a recurring subscription and refunds/credits the price difference. | Turning one-time coffee, supplement, or skincare buyers into subscribers. |
2. Cross-Sell | Any buyer (One-time or Subscriber) | Adds a new product/variant to the current order (as one-time or new subscription). | Shakers, accessories, travel sizes, complementary snacks/serums. |
3. Subscription Upsell | Subscriber who just purchased the targeted subscription | Upgrades their subscription plan to a higher quantity, better cadence, or higher-tier product (immediately or on next renewal). | Moving monthly 1-pack subscribers to quarterly 3-packs or larger bag sizes. |
Offer Type 1: Upgrade to Subscription
Goal: Turn one-time buyers into recurring subscribers at peak buying intent to acquire new subscriptions and grow Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR).
How It Works
When a customer buys a product as a one-time purchase at checkout, the Upgrade to Subscription offer invites them to convert that exact item into a recurring subscription at a subscriber discount (for example, "Upgrade to a subscription & save 15% instantly").
Under the hood, Loop refunds the original one-time purchase made at checkout, then charges the subscription price. The customer is enrolled into the subscription, with future billing starting from the next delivery cycle.
Configuration Options
Product Selection: Select one or more products and choose the variants to include in the offer.
Only variants purchased as a one-time product at checkout are eligible to be shown in the post-purchase offer.
If multiple eligible variants are configured, the variant with the highest price will be shown.
Subscription Frequency: Map selling plans to the offered product by selecting a selling plan and its available delivery frequencies (for example, every 30 days or every 60 days).
If multiple products or variants are selected, only common selling plans and frequencies across them will be available in the offer.

Offer Type 2: Cross-Sell
Goal: Boost immediate Average Order Value (AOV) by pitching complementary add-on products right after checkout.
How It Works
A Cross-Sell offer presents one product (and any number of its variants) that the customer can add to their existing order with one tap. The original items in the customer's checkout order remain untouched.
Configuration Options
Product Selection: Pick one parent product and select one, several, or all of its variants. If multiple variants are selected, the customer sees a variant dropdown (Options) on the offer page.
Purchase Options: You can enable One-time purchase, Subscription, or both simultaneously:
One-time purchase: Configure an optional One-time discount (No discount, Percentage, or Fixed amount). Loop displays a live preview beneath the field showing the exact discounted price or range the customer will pay.
Subscription: Map selling plans to the offered product:
Use one selling plan for all variants (Common): Pick a single selling plan and check which delivery frequencies (e.g., Every 30 days, Every 60 days) to offer.
Map a selling plan for each variant (Per-variant): Assign different selling plans and frequencies to individual variants.

Offer Type 3: Subscription Upsell
Goal: Move customers who just purchased a subscription at checkout to a higher-value subscription (larger pack size, higher quantity, longer commitment interval, or premium product tier) to maximise AOV and MRR per subscriber.
How It Works
This offer displays only when a customer purchases the targeted Current subscription at checkout. When accepted, Loop automatically upgrades their subscription contract to the Upgrade to configuration.
Choose When the Upgrade Takes Effect?
You must first choose one of two timing modes, as this determines how the first order is fulfilled:
Mode | How Checkout Order Ships |
Immediately (Default) | The checkout order switches to the upgraded product, quantity, and frequency immediately. |
From the first recurring order | The checkout order ships exactly as bought with no immediate charge. The subscription switches to the upgraded product, quantity, and frequency starting on the first recurring renewal. |
Side-by-Side Comparison: "Current Subscription" vs. "Upgrade To"
The builder presents two side-by-side cards so you can see the exact before-and-after swap:
Left Card : Current subscription (to replace):
Product & Variants: Select the subscription product(s) and variant(s) the customer bought at checkout.
Selling plans & Frequencies filter: Multi-select specific selling plans and frequencies to target.
Right Card : Upgrade to (new subscription):
Product & Variant: Pick the single target variant the subscription upgrades to
Quantity: Set the upgraded recurring quantity (e.g., 1, 2, 3).
Plan & Frequency: Choose the target Selling Plan and single Delivery Frequency.
