Loyalty portal

Understanding and configuring the dedicated loyalty portal for non-subscribers

Loyalty portal is a dedicated loyalty account where non-subscribers can view and manage their complete loyalty experience. Since loyalty runs at the account level rather than the subscription level, one-time purchasers without an active subscription still earn and redeem loyalty rewards and they need a portal to regularly access these points.

Configuring loyalty portal

Navigate to Loop admin → Loyalty → Customer experience → Loyalty portal to access the loyalty portal section. It has four tabs: Layout, Configuration, Preferences, and Texts.

Layout

Admin experience

The Layout tab lets you rearrange every section of loyalty portal since it is a full, dedicated page rather than just a widget. By default, it includes the page title, balance expiry banner, milestones section, redeem balance section, and your coupons section. You can drag any drop any section using the three dots next to it to reorder how it appears to your customers. Further, you can use the Desktop and Mobile toggle to preview each layout separately.

Below are the default available sections of loyalty portal:

  1. Page title: Section to greet the customer by name, for example "Hi, Jane."

  2. Balance expiry banner: This banner warns customers when their points or coupons are about to expire with a CTA button of redeem points which you can use to redirect users directly to your product page.

The banner turns on automatically based on the expiry notification days you configure under Loop admin → Loyalty → Preferences → Points actions and Discounts section. Whatever highest number you set here, the banner will start showing from that day onward. For example, if you've set 30, 15, and 7 days, the banner turns on 30 days before expiry and stays visible from that point onward, until the points or coupons are redeemed or expire.

Note: the banner combines points and coupons into a single message, and it always shows whichever is expiring sooner. For example, if a customer has points expiring in 5 days and a coupon expiring in 1 day, the banner shows the coupon's 1-day expiry, not the points, since that's the one closer to running out and therefore is prioritized in creating an urgency.

  3. Milestones section: The milestone section shows how close a customer is to their next reward, for example "Complete 3 more orders to earn $3.00," along with the order milestones ahead of them.

  4. Redeem balance: Users can see their total available points or credits here and will be able to drag a slider to generate a coupon for a specific amount. The minimum and maximum amount shown here will be determined from what you set in the Preferences section.

  5. Your coupons: This section lists the coupons a customer currently has, along with when each one expires.

Creating your custom section

You can also add your own sections by clicking + Add section, which opens the "Create new custom section" dialog. Here, you set an HTML ID to apply custom styles to that section, choose the number of columns, and add your content using the built-in editor, which supports text, images, links, and other HTML components.

Additionally, the content editor also supports three loyalty variables that you can drop into your custom section: {{loyalty_points}}, {{loyalty_coupons}}, and {{loyalty_credits}}.

Configuration

Admin experience

The Configuration tab controls the colors used across loyalty portal. You can set colors individually for General elements (text, buttons, borders, page background), Cards, Banner, Popup and sidebar, Milestones, and the Redeem balance section. Each group has its own Reset to default option, so you can adjust one area without affecting the rest.

If you want further customization, you can use the Custom CSS box for styling beyond what the color pickers offer. There's also a Custom JS tab that lets you add custom JavaScript to loyalty portal for advanced customizations that go beyond the visual configuration options.

Customer experience

These colors directly shape what your customers see when they open loyalty portal. Every element from the banner background and text color to the progress line color on their milestones tracker can be controlled from here.

Preferences

Admin experience

The Preferences tab has two settings. Portal URL is a unique link that opens loyalty portal directly for a given customer, and you can copy it to embed anywhere on your store or in your emails so non-subscribers can jump straight into their loyalty account. Return URL configures where the "Redeem now" link inside the balance expiry banner takes your customers.

Customer experience

Your customers see this banner at the top of loyalty portal once it's triggered, with a message like "You have 3,144 points expiring in 6 days" and a "Redeem now" link that takes them to your configured Return URL.

Texts

The Texts tab lets you customize all the copy shown on loyalty portal, organized into four sections: General, Milestones, Redeem, and Coupon. Use this to match the tone of your brand or translate the portal into a different language for your customers.

FAQs

Can I set different expiry notification days for points and coupons?

Yes, points expiry notification and coupon expiry notification are configured separately, under Points actions and Discounts in Loop admin > Loyalty > Preferences. This means you can set different thresholds for each, for example 30, 15, and 7 days for points, but 60, 30, and 10 days for coupons.

What shows in expiry banner if a customer has multiple coupons expiring on different dates?

The balance expiry banner always picks the coupon with the nearest expiry date among all of a customer's coupons, then compares that date against their nearest points expiry. Whichever of the two, points or the soonest-expiring coupon, is closer to expiring is what shows up in the banner.
