Triple Whale Integration

Sync your Loop subscription data with Triple Whale to view subscription revenue and retention metrics alongside your other Shopify analytics.

Triple Whale is an analytics platform that brings together data from your different sales channels and apps into one dashboard. Connecting Loop with Triple Whale lets you pull your subscription revenue, subscriber counts, and retention metrics into Triple Whale's Summary dashboard, so you can track subscription performance next to the rest of your store data. This article covers what to set up before connecting, how to connect the two apps, and what data flows into Triple Whale once connected.

Prerequisites before you connect

Before connecting, make sure order tagging is enabled in Loop and that the matching tags are set up in Triple Whale's Subscription Order Tags settings. These tags let Triple Whale tell apart first subscription orders from recurring renewal orders, which Triple Whale needs for accurate subscription filtering in its Attribution table.

For steps on setting up order tags in Loop, see Loop's Subscription Tags guide.

Connecting Loop with Triple Whale

The connection is made from Triple Whale's side using an API key generated in Loop.

To generate the API key:

  1. Navigate to Loop admin > Settings > API tokens & webhooks.

  2. Create a new API key and name it Triple Whale.

  3. Copy the generated key.

Paste this key into the Loop Subscriptions connection screen in Triple Whale to complete the setup. For the full walkthrough on the Triple Whale side, including where to find the connection screen, see Triple Whale's Loop Subscriptions Integration article.

What data syncs to Triple Whale

Once connected, your Loop subscription data starts flowing into Triple Whale's Summary dashboard. This includes subscription order revenue (first orders, recurring orders, and totals), along with subscriber metrics like new subscriptions, cancellations, churned subscribers, reactivated customers, and active subscriptions.

For the full list of metrics and how each one is defined, see the Metrics section of Triple Whale's Loop Subscriptions Integration article.

Limitation

  1. Total Active Subscriptions and Total Active Subscribers in Triple Whale include paused subscriptions, unlike Loop's dashboard, which excludes paused subscriptions from its active totals. These two metrics will not match the corresponding numbers in your Loop dashboard.

FAQs

Why might some orders not show up in Triple Whale?

Only orders with a successful charge sync to Triple Whale. If an order is missing, check its status in Loop to confirm the payment went through, since failed billing attempts do not create a Shopify order.

Why might my active subscriber or subscription counts differ between Loop and Triple Whale?

This usually comes down to two things. Triple Whale's historical import only covers the trailing 750 days, and Loop's dashboard excludes paused subscriptions from active totals while Triple Whale's active metrics may include them. See Triple Whale's article linked above for more detail on this, or reach out to us if the gap looks larger than expected.
