General settings is where you configure store-level preferences that affect how subscriptions are billed, how checkout orders are processed, how shipping is handled for prepaid subscriptions, and how order notes are managed.
Navigate to Loop admin > Settings > General to access these settings.
Using general settings, you can:
Set a billing hour to control when recurring orders are processed each day
Delay subscription creation after checkout to allow post-purchase actions to complete
Configure shipping charges for prepaid subscriptions and manage delivery method options in customer portal
Switch order note management from the subscription level to the individual order level
Billing preferences
Billing preferences let you control when recurring subscription orders are processed each day.
Billing hour
The billing hour setting processes all recurring orders for a given day at a single configured time, regardless of when each subscription was originally created. This gives you a predictable, consistent processing window across your subscriber base.
Set the time using the All subscription orders will be processed starting field.
Updating billing hour for existing subscriptions
Changing the billing hour field alone only affects new subscriptions going forward. To apply the updated time to existing subscriptions as well, click Update billing hour.
Note: Use this if you notice orders still processing outside your configured billing hour window.
Delay checkout orders
This setting delays the creation of a subscription in Loop after checkout. When a customer places a subscription order, Loop waits for the configured duration before processing it.
The delay gives time for downstream actions to complete before the subscription is created. This includes post-purchase upsells being presented, order attribute changes being applied, tags being assigned, and flows executing with up-to-date information.
Enabling the delay:
Navigate to Loop admin > Settings > General, then check Delay order processing for checkout orders.
Once enabled, set the duration using the Delay duration dropdown. The available options are 1, 3, 5, 10, and 15 minutes.
Note: Enabling this setting delays subscription visibility in Loop admin and customer portal, and delays customer notification emails by the configured duration.
Address and shipping settings
This setting lets you to configure shipping charges for prepaid subscriptions and manage delivery method options in customer portal. This section has three settings that control shipping charges for prepaid subscriptions, delivery method options in customer portal, and address validation behavior.
Prepaid subscriptions shipping charge
This setting controls how shipping is charged across the recurring deliveries of a prepaid subscription. There are three options:
Option | What it does |
Do not charge shipping | All recurring deliveries are placed with zero shipping charge. |
Charge shipping but only on renewals | Shipping is charged on renewal orders only, at the rate configured on the subscription. |
Charge shipping on all deliveries | Shipping is charged on every delivery, at the rate configured on the subscription. |
Multiple delivery methods availability
Enable this setting if your store has more than one delivery method active in your Shopify shipping and delivery settings. For example, shipping, local delivery, and pickup. When enabled, the Change delivery method button becomes available to subscribers in customer portal, letting them switch between available delivery methods on their subscription.
Note: This setting is disabled if your deliveries are being managed by a Zapiet integration.
Address validation override
When enabled, Loop skips complete address validation at checkout. Zip code, province, and country details are still verified against your configured delivery profiles even when this override is active.
Order notes setting
Enable order specific notes
By default, order notes are managed at the subscription level, meaning the same note is carried across all orders generated from that subscription. Enabling Enable order specific notes shifts note management to the individual order level instead.
Use this if you need different notes on different orders within the same subscription
For example, if your fulfilment team adds per-order instructions that should not persist to future orders.
