Place upcoming order

Learn how to use the Order now feature in Loop to let customers place immediate subscription orders for faster, more flexible deliveries.

Updated over a week ago

The Order now or Place order action allows both subscribers and admins to place an upcoming subscription order immediately, ideal for situations where the customer runs out of the product earlier than expected or needs a faster delivery. Once triggered, the order is billed instantly, and the subscription cycle is adjusted accordingly based on the configured delivery frequency.

This feature is especially useful for increasing customer satisfaction and retention by offering flexibility and control over their subscription experience.

This article will guide you through the available options to place an order, both from the admin portal and the customer portal within Loop.

Logic behind the order now function

Case 1: Anchor base setting disabled

Case (a) - In this subscription example, the product is subscribed with a 1-week delivery frequency. The subsequent orders are scheduled weekly, i.e., 18th July, 25th July, and so on.

The Placed order functionality was used on 14th July with the prepone subsequent subscription orders option enabled. This means the current order was placed immediately on 14th July, and future orders were rescheduled by maintaining the same delivery interval (1 week in this case). So, the next order will now be scheduled for 21st July, 28th July and so on.

Case (b) - In this subscription example, the product is subscribed with a 1-week delivery frequency. The subsequent orders are scheduled weekly, i.e., 21st July, 28th July, and so on.

The Placed order functionality was used on 14th July with the prepone subsequent subscription orders option disabled. In this case, the current order was placed immediately on 14th July, the next scheduled order (originally 21st July) was shifted to 28th July, followed by 4th August, 11th August, and so on, maintaining the defined frequency.

Case 2: Anchor base setting enabled

Case (a) - In this subscription example, the product is subscribed with a 1-week delivery frequency and anchor settings enabled (delivery every Tuesday, with a 4-day cutoff). Subsequent orders are scheduled weekly, i.e., 15th July, 22nd July, and so on.

The Placed order functionality was used on 14th July with the prepone subsequent subscription orders option enabled. This means the current order was placed immediately on 14th July, and future orders were rescheduled by maintaining the same delivery interval (1 week- every Tuesday in this case + anchor day logic). So, the next order will now be scheduled for 22nd July, 29th July and so on.

Case (b) - In this subscription example, the product is subscribed with a 1-week delivery frequency and anchor settings enabled (delivery every Tuesday, with a 4-day cutoff). Subsequent orders are scheduled weekly, i.e., 22nd July, 29th July and so on.

The Placed order functionality was used on 14th July with the prepone subsequent subscription orders option disabled. In this case, the current order was placed immediately on 14th July, the next scheduled order (originally 22nd July) was shifted to 29th July, followed by 5th August, 12th August, and so on, maintaining the defined frequency (delivery every Tuesday, with a 4-day cutoff).

Placing an order from the Loop customer portal

Prerequisites

Before completing the process, we need to make sure these things are in place.

  • The subscriber should have an active subscription on Loop or should have purchased a subscription prior.

  • The option called “Place Order” should be enabled. This option can be found by heading to Customer Portal > Preferences > Order actions > Place order

If the above conditions are met, follow the steps below to complete the process.

  1. Customer logs in to the customer portal and clicks on the Order now button.

  2. The order will be placed, and the upcoming schedule will be updated based on the frequency defined in the selling plan.

Configuring the warning message

Subscribers will see a warning message if they click the "Order Now" button within 24 hours. This is only a warning message and does not prevent the subscriber from placing an order.

  1. The default text for this warning message can be configured by navigating to Loop admin > Customer portal > Themes > Customize > Texts> Order now text > Order now popup warning text.

  2. To style the default warning box, navigate to Loop admin > Customer portal > Themes > Customize > Styles > Popups and sidebar

Placing an order from the Loop admin portal

There might be a requirement if a customer phones in and asks the merchant to place an order on their behalf. In such cases, the merchant can manually place an order on behalf of the customer from the Loop admin portal.

Follow these steps to complete the process.

  1. Navigate to Loop admin and search for the customer's “Subscription ID” in the Subscriptions tab.

  2. Open the subscription, scroll down to the order schedule tab and click the Place order button.
