Swap products campaign

Prevent revenue loss from low inventory or discontinued SKUs by offering subscribers a seamless, one-click product swap inside customer portal.

Updated over a week ago

The Swap products campaign allows brands to replace one or more existing subscription products with recommended alternatives without requiring subscribers to cancel or manually edit their subscription.

This is especially powerful for managing low inventory, product discontinuations, or introducing higher-margin alternatives.

Why use Swap products campaigns?

Swap campaigns help brands proactively protect subscription revenue.

Key benefits:

  • Prevent cancellations: Offer a ready alternative instead of forcing subscribers to cancel due to OOS products.

  • Protect revenue: Avoid churn caused by discontinued or low-stock SKUs.

  • Promote better-fit products: Recommend upgraded, reformulated, or higher-margin alternatives.

  • Support complex mappings: Configure many-to-many product mappings (multiple old products to multiple new product options).

When should you use this campaign?

This campaign works best in situations like:

• Product discontinued permanently
• Temporary stock-out
• Reformulated or upgraded version launch
• SKU rationalization
• Introducing premium alternatives

Many-to-many product mapping (Old to new)

The Swap products campaign supports flexible mapping between old and new products:

  • One old product to multiple new product options

  • Multiple old products to one new product

  • Multiple old products to multiple new products

This lets you handle bulk product migrations and complex catalog transitions in a single campaign.

Example:

Old products:

  • Protein Vanilla 500g

  • Protein Chocolate 500g

New products:

  • Protein Vanilla 1kg

  • Protein Chocolate 1kg

  • Premium Blend Protein

Subscribers choose from the recommended alternatives based on the mapping you configure.

How to create a Swap products campaign

Navigate to Loop admin > Campaigns > Create campaign, then select Swap products. Add an internal name so you can identify the campaign later.

Select audience

Choose which subscriptions should see the swap offer:

  • All subscriptions: The campaign applies to every active subscription.

  • Specific subscriptions: Filter by conditions such as product, frequency, or tags, or add specific subscription IDs.

Select channel

Choose where the swap will be displayed:

• Customer portal banner
• Email/SMS via 3rd party marketing apps (Klaviyo)
• Both customer portal and Email/SMS

Configure Action properties

Step 1: Select old products (any of)

Select the products that will be swapped.

These are the products currently present in the subscriber’s active subscription.

Step 2: Select new product(s)

Choose the replacement product(s) to recommend.

You can also set priority if multiple new products are added.

Subscribers will see these as swap options in the drawer.

Step 3: Define pricing behavior

Choose how pricing should be handled:

• Keep the price and discounts same as that of the old product(s)
• Use the price of the new product and apply existing discounts
• Use the price of the new product and apply discounts from its associated selling plan
• Use the price of the new product and apply a custom discount

This gives full control over revenue and margin impact during swaps.

Add customer portal banners

Upload creatives to notify subscribers:

The banner appears inside the subscription details page.

Customize texts

Configure campaign messaging. Clear communication reduces friction and improves acceptance rate.

Set timeline

Set the campaign start and end date and time.

Note: Campaign duration by default is 1 month (difference between start and end date).
Once expired:

• Banner disappears automatically
• Swap drawer cannot be accessed

Notify completion alert (Optional)

Enter an email address to receive alerts when subscribers complete swaps.

Customer experience

When the campaign is live, eligible subscribers see a banner in their customer portal if you have enabled that channel.

When a subscriber clicks the banner:

• A swap drawer opens
• Existing product is displayed
• Recommended new product options are shown
• Subscriber can review product details
• One-click confirm completes the swap

Once a subscriber confirms the swap, the subscription updates immediately, a success message is displayed, and the campaign disappears for that subscription. This avoids manual edits and reduces cancellation-driven churn.

Performance tracking

Track campaign results by navigating to Loop admin > Campaigns. You can review the following metrics for each swap campaign:

  • Audience: Total subscriptions targeted by the campaign.

  • Clicks: Subscribers who opened the swap drawer.

  • Completion rate: Successful product swaps.

Use these insights to measure acceptance rate and refine your replacement strategy over time.
